Very well, I consider that to be the worst of the Adult Swim originals myself. Really, it's like the show's writers only have a general idea of what most comedies do and just imitated it. The jokes all seem so forced and... generic. I mean, it's all based on some outdated notion of how society is. Edgy back in 1980, but completely stupid now.

Now on the other hand, that show Venture Brothers? That's pretty funny. Not as good as the crazy 15 minute shows mind you, but genuinly funny none the less. I liked the little nod to Cowboy Bebop in one episode, and the ending of one seemed to be torn straight from the ending of Metal Gear Solid. Funny stuff.

We must have different senses of humor, because I think The Oblongs is hilarious. It's great morbid humor about a family of deformed people who are always getting stepped on by the rich. "Pickles Little Amazons" is the greatest episode.

On the other hand, I watched Venture Bros. once or twice, and I found it boring. Maybe it contained a bunch of references that I didn't get. I've never finished Metal Gear Solid or seen Cowboy Bebop, and I imagine there was other stuff I wasn't getting, too.

Oblongs isn't bad; even if it isnt terribly funny by today's standards, its original. Venture Brothers is decidedly funnier, however.

Honestly I didn't consider it that original... It was basically like watching the excrement of good comedies retold by people who didn't really get why those jokes were originally funny anyway. I GET all the humor, I ain't laughing, but I GET it.

To quote a Simpsons episode from BACK WHEN I GAVE A DAMN, "The whole thing reeks of effort man", or to put it another way, they tried too hard to force the jokes to work.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't The Oblongs on some other network before airing on CN?

Anyway, I've watched a few episodes of the show and I found it to be somewhat funny, but it wasn't really too great. I'll take the 15-minute shows over it anyday.
